We wanted some adventure so we sold our house in Auckland, New Zealand, ditched jobs and school and travelled the world Feb 2003 - Feb 2004. We had approximately equal parts holiday, astronomy or teaching related work and Christian service. This was our version of sabbatical year, broader education, round-the-world trip, Pipehenge promotion, job search, journey of faith and exploration of service possibilities.
